I managed to figure out how to get around from some YouTube Vids. Three stars for explaining the updated interface. Some of them use Visual Studio. Even the Windows Applications chapter falls short, and mainly talks about forms and dialogue boxes.

No talk about accelerators, using a menu or a ribbon and linking those to code, nothing. The chapters that talk about project deployment will come in handy and are VERY detailed and helpful, including photos of dialogs that appear as you are clicking your way through deploying a project for installation on another computer. I just wished that there was at least a couple chapters dedicated to Windows Applications, as Visual Studio has several tools including the ribbon that are what I am looking for in terms of programming.

Unfortunately the book falls short in that category. Another chapter that will come in handy is deploying program updates and patches. If you are looking to use Visual Studio for anything else, I would recommend this book. Otherwise, it is great to have around as a reference just in case I need it for other Visual Studio features, but in the meantime it is collecting dust.

Even though this is a professional version, it is very good for the beginners. Even though I have not completely read this book but the starting chapters gave some very useful tips that I was not aware off even after working in. Net background for over 7 years.

Wish I had read this book during the start of my career. Net to , and from XP to bit Win7. Unfortunately, this book doesn\’t discuss native code generation at all. There is so much here! So much more than I expected. I learn something everytime I open the book. It seems a bit hard for me to adapt to the suffistaced terminology. But I suppose that is necessary. I love the book and although I need to read each part, then go back over it again, often more than once to get a better idea of what it means, it is very helpful!

This book covers a good amount of features in Visual Studio which are very useful for beginners. The content of the book is helpful in general. I have not used Visual Studio since VS 6! Long time.
