Doing the online repair resolved my problem. The tech support guy did say he would have to take over my laptop to resolve the problem if the on line repair had not worked. He would presumably have helped me with the registry issue you wrote about. Microsoft is investigating an issue, we will update status soon on this. Meanwhile use the quick repair option. If still unresolved, use the uninstall fixit , then reinstall from the Office My Account page and verify the status. For further queries, reply and we would be happy to assist.
