I have been on the phone with Adobe Support 3 times in the last week and the first solution was to purchase version 10 which did not work. Now today they have increased the paging file again this was one when troubleshooting the first time and it has now worked on a Version 9 and Version 10 PDFs but we will see as the employee gives a good test tomorrow.

I am really feeling that the program has a memory handling problem and the problem will occur again if the PDFs get to pages or more. So what does the group think, have any of you seen this before and fixed it? We use Adobe\’s Acrobat here with Winbit OS, 64bit will allow you to use more memory instead of 4Gb but the issue I have with this is that Adobe hasn\’t released a 64bit version of AdobeAcrobat, Flash, shockwave etc so I don\’t really know if it would help because it\’s still a 32bit programme and still limited to normal 32bit rules isn\’t it?

Try upgrading one machine first and see what happens, make sure you have something like 6Gb RAM in the test machine 3x2Gb Sticks as the lowest. I have been working with Adobe support for over a week on this and they are seeing the same problem on their systems with large files. If get a solution I will post it. The issue was that the older versions of Acrobat created problems.

Only then is the RAM actually released! Using Acrobat without this procedure, eventually leads to the \’Out of Memory\’ Error which can be catastrophic. As clever as the Adobe Acrobat Programmers undoubtedly must be, they have created a monstrosity that gobbles RAM like there is no tomorrow!

I accidentally updated to acrobat DC and cannot figure out how to get back to XI – it ws pre-loaded on the machine I bought and I have the same problems as others in this string with getting the OoM message and then having the program crash.

The first time was when I was bates numbering a page file. Now it happens a lot and at times with only files open which is not a lot for me.

I am running win 7. This is crazy. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Does anyone here know if the PDF they\’re having problems with was scanned and may have been susceptible to being rotated by the scanner? I have a scenario where within a single document provided by others i have some pages that are letter sized forms in portrait orientation and then some pages that are larger sized pages in landscape orientation.

Typically, large drawings are printed in portrait and have to be rotated, so i\’m assuming that the pages in my PDF that are drawings were rotated some how. When scrolling through the PDF, I get the \”Out of Memory\” error as soon as i hit one of the drawing pages again, which i assume are rotated.

So i\’m fairly certain that the application isn\’t out of memory, but that it\’s just throwing that message up as a result to whatever it can\’t handle.
